1. ARE YOUR UNITS DRY?
We took special precautions when we designed our facility to assure dry conditions. A professionally engineered underground drainage system moves surface water away rapidly to catch basins which in turn are linked to underground culverts that carry the water quickly away from the storage area to a drainage pond.
The slope of our flat roofs shed water quickly. The ceilings inside our units are insulated to prevent condensation.
The interior concrete floor level (water-control design) of each unit is raised well above the surrounding black top drive to prevent any possible water entry.
2. ARE YOUR UNITS CLEAN?
We offer you a new facility that is kept consistently neat and clean. The storage units have door tracks and seals that limit dust. Asphalt paving provides a dirt and dust free driving surface. The concrete floors are cleaned regularly to provide you with a clean site to store your things.
3. WHAT ABOUT OUR SECURITY?
This is a new facility located in the Madison Commerce Park in the developing neighborhoods of South East Madison and McFarland. In the three years the facility has been here, we have had no break-ins. Many of our customers are current and former law enforcement officers who live in the immediate area. Police and fire protection are provided by the City of Madison, with a fire hydrant located right at our driveway.
4. WHAT ABOUT LIGHTING?
Lighting is provided by Mercury vapor lighting mounted directly on the buildings throughout the facility.
Lighting operates from dusk until dawn, 365 days per year.
5. WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT?
We furnish to you FREE the "Guardian Cylinder Lock and Key System"...the best in the business. You will receive key(s) upon signing your lease and will return them on the last day of your lease. Management also retains one key to each unit.
6. WHEN WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT?
You will have access to the 7 days per week, 24 hours a day.
7. PESTS AND RODENTS?
Our facility is fully paved which is a deterrent to pests and rodents, and is monitored and maintained regularly by a professional pest and rodent elimination company.
8. DO I NEED CLIMATE CONTROL FOR STORING HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGS?
The vast majority of our customers are using our non-climate controlled storage facility for household goods while they are between apartments or homes. Our customers have been storing their things without a problem for anywhere from a few months to a year or more.
9. WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
We strongly suggest that you contact your insurance company and advise them that you are utilizing self storage space to be certain that you have insurance coverage. Our insurance does not cover your goods.
10. WHAT ABOUT AUTO AND BOAT STORAGE?
We have a number of units for auto and boat storage. We suggest that you stop by and look at our units to see if they will meet your needs. You can bring a boat or car to see just what size space meets your needs.
11. HOW DO WE GET STARTED RENTING A STORAGE UNIT?
You can call us at 608-442-8000 to arrange an appointment to stop by and view the unit size that you feel you need. Once you have seen a unit, you can then visualize if it fits your needs. If not we can show you another size and we then can complete a rental agreement and have you ready to occupy your unit in about ten minutes. If you are pressed for time or out of town we can also handle the rental via fax or by mail.
12. HOW IS THE RENTAL PAID?
As industry-standard fees, you will be charged a one month's security deposit which is refundable upon your move out. There is also a $25 processing fee (non-refundable) to cover accounting fees and credit card processing fees.
The vast majority of our customers prefer that we charge their credit card each month so that they do not have to stop by or mail a check each month. We accept MasterCard and Visa, credit cards or debit cards.
13. WHEN CAN WE SEE YOUR FACILITY TO SEE IF ITS IS RIGHT FOR US?

14. WHERE IS APPLEWOOD SELF STORAGE LOCATED?
Our storage units are at 4018 Marsh Road, Madison, WI 53718, 1.5 miles from the Beltline / Hwy 12 / 18 at Stoughton Road / Hwy 51. Head south on Hwy51 / Stoughton Road to your 1st stop light intersection. Turn left (east) on Voges Road and proceed past the Humane Society to Marsh Road. Turn right on Marsh Road and we are on the right.
