Each year we are privileged to get many comments from our customers, either on note cards, emails or letters about our Madison WI storage units. Here’s just a sampling:
1. ARE YOUR UNITS DRY?
Unlike typical flat parking lot-type sites as you can see by the photos, this our storage facility was built into a hill. This required special engineering to ensure well-directed and swift water flow away from unit doors and down into our own storm water management system. Yes, our site has its very own water management system! Our professionally engineered water run-off into our own underground drainage system moves surface water away rapidly to catch basins which in turn are linked to underground culverts that carry the water quickly away from the storage units & aisles into the commerce park’s master system.
Also, the slope of our buildings roof system sheds water quickly. Additionally, the ceilings inside our units are insulated to prevent condensation. The interior concrete floor level (water-control design) of each self storage unit is raised well above the surrounding black top drive to prevent any possible water entry.
2. ARE YOUR UNITS CLEAN?
We offer you a new self storage facility that is kept consistently neat and clean. The storage units have door tracks and seals that limit dust. Asphalt paving provides a dirt and dust free driving surface. The concrete floors are cleaned regularly to provide you with a clean site to store your things.
3. WHAT ABOUT OUR SECURITY? - SAFETY IS OUR #1 GOAL!
Our storage facility is located in the City of Madison right next to a high traffic road (not out in the country at some desolated location). Our buildings are situated right next to that busy road (not tucked in way behind somewhere, out of sight). So visibility from the road is excellent. With our storage facility in Madison, we have the benefits of City Police and Fire protection (fire hydrant located right at our driveway). The mini storage facility is situated in the new Madison Commerce Park with adjacent the developing neighborhoods of South East Madison and McFarland. Since owning the facility in 2004, we have had no break-ins. With safety being our #1 goal (vs. being full), we tend to be pretty fussy with who we have as customers and don’t deal with “riff-raff” very well. With how we run our facility we are privileged to have as our customers; law enforcement officers who live in the immediate area, fire fighters and other public officials.
4. WHAT ABOUT LIGHTING?
Lighting is provided by Mercury vapor lighting mounted directly on the buildings throughout the storage facility. Lighting operates from dusk until dawn, 365 days per year.
5. WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT?
We furnish for you to use during your stay, FREE the "Guardian Cylinder Lock and Key System"...the best in the business. You will receive key(s) upon signing your lease and will return them on the last day of your lease. Management also retains one key to each unit.
6. WHEN WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO MY STORAGE UNIT?
You will have access to the 7 days per week, 24 hours a day.
7. DO I NEED CLIMATE CONTROL FOR STORING HOUSEHOLD FURNISHINGS?
The vast majority of our customers are using our non-climate controlled storage facility for household goods while they are between apartments or homes or traveling over seas for over a year at a time. Our customers have been storing their things without a problem for anywhere from a few months to a year or more.
8. WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?
We strongly suggest that you contact your insurance company and advise them that you are utilizing self storage space to be certain that you have insurance coverage. Our insurance does not cover your goods.
9. WHAT ABOUT AUTO AND BOAT STORAGE?
We have a number of units for auto and boat storage. When calling it is helpful that you have the length and width dimensions of what you are storing. We suggest that you stop by and look at our units to see if they will meet your needs.
10. HOW DO WE GET STARTED RENTING A STORAGE UNIT?
You can call us at 608-442-8000 to arrange an appointment to stop by and view the unit size that you feel you need. Once you have seen a unit, you can then visualize if it fits your needs. Then you can determine if we should show you another size. Once we have landed on the best size for you, we then can complete a rental agreement, issue you key (s). The process takes about ten minutes and when done, you ready to occupy your unit. If you are pressed for time or out of town we can also handle the rental via fax, email or by mail. We will also send you a "Welcome Email" summarizing key points of your leasee
11. HOW IS THE RENTAL PAID?
As industry-standard fees, you will be charged a one month's security deposit which is refundable upon your move out. There is also a $25 processing fee (non-refundable) to cover accounting fees and credit card processing fees. The vast majority of our customers prefer that we charge their credit card each month so that they do not have to stop by or mail a check each month. We accept MasterCard and Visa, credit cards or debit cards.
12. WHEN CAN WE SEE YOUR FACILITY TO SEE IF ITS IS RIGHT FOR US?
We do personal showings throughout the week. Please call us at 608-442-8000 to set up your viewing appointment.
13. WHERE IS APPLEWOOD SELF STORAGE LOCATED?
Our Madison storage units are located at 4018 Marsh Road, Madison, WI 53718, 1.5 miles from the Beltline/Hwy 12/18 at Stoughton Road/Hwy 51. Head south on Hwy 51 & Stoughton Road to your 1st stop light intersection. Turn left (east) on Voges Road and proceed past the Humane Society to Marsh Road. Turn right on Marsh Road and we are on the right.
